The Vehicle Insurance document is used to manage and track all insurance policies linked to vehicles. It supports both normal insurance policies and road transit risk policies.

Key Fields

  • Vehicle Source – Can be either Vehicle or Pre-Registration Vehicle.
  • License Plate – Links the insurance to a specific vehicle.
  • Policy Type – Two options:
    • Normal Policy
    • Road Transit Risk
  • Policy Number – Unique identifier for the insurance policy.
  • Policy Issued By – Insurance provider linked from master.
  • Customer – Vehicle owner (automatically fetched).
  • Valid From & End Date – Duration of policy validity.
  • Policy Issue Date – Date of issuance.
  • IDV – Insured Declared Value of the vehicle.
  • Premium Amount – Insurance premium paid.
  • No Claim Bonus – Check if applicable.
  • Attach Document – Upload scanned insurance copy.
  • Document Status – System auto-sets as Valid or Expired.
  • Disabled – Marks an old policy as inactive when a new one is created.

Road Transit Risk Fields

If Policy Type is set to Road Transit Risk, additional details are required:

  • Engine No – Auto-fetched from vehicle.
  • Chassis No – Auto-fetched from vehicle.
  • From Location – Starting point of the transit.
  • To Location – Destination point of the transit.
  • Distance in KMs – Distance covered in transit.

Endorsements

A policy may include endorsement details, which are captured in a child table. These track modifications or special conditions applied to the insurance policy.

️ Rules & Validations

  • Policy Number is unique – avoids duplicate entries.
  • Mandatory Fields – Vehicle Source, License Plate, Policy Number, Policy Issued By, and End Date must be filled in.
  • AutoName Rule – Document is named using the Policy Number.
  • Expiry Handling – System automatically updates status to Valid or Expired based on dates.
  • One Active Policy – Older policies for the same vehicle are automatically disabled when a new one is added.

- Maintains a record of all vehicle insurance policies.
- Ensures that every vehicle always has the latest valid insurance record.
- Supports special cases like Road Transit Risk insurance.
- Integrates with Vehicle and Pre-Registration Vehicle for seamless tracking.
